Not much time

I am finding that I don't have much time to devote to my artwork! I have again been out of town visiting grandchildren for Christmas activities and will be going out of town again after Christmas. I really hope that in the new year I can organize myself better to find time to paint. I get so frustrated with not being able to paint; maybe it takes me too long to get back into it when I do have the time. I need to accomplish more with less time!

New Adventures

I am posting a photo of one of my new abstract paintings, the beginning of a series called "New Adventures". This new direction has evolved since the wonderful workshop in Asheville that I attended recently. I am having a lot of fun going into something new. I think this will continue to evolve....

Wonderful

The workshop this past weekend turned out to be wonderful! Steven Aimone in Asheville thanked us (five artists) for taking a chance on him, and that was a most gracious attitude as he was great at directing us in studying our areas of interest. He lead us to explore new ways of making art and helped us to define our work. Each person in the group had so much to offer, and we really got along well. It was amazing to see such a variety of artwork. All-in-all it was a wonderful experience, and I hope to see everyone again!

Workshop

I am getting ready to attend a workshop and am getting excited about the three days of learning! It has been a while since I have gone to a workshop, and I can really use the three days to work on something new! I have been leaning towards going more abstract with my landscapes, and I think this will be a good time to work on that. I am trying to get my act together by planning what I intend to accomplish and setting some goals.

Another Show

I am really amazed that now I have two shows to get ready. I have one in Seneca from 9/15 to 11/15 and one in Greenwood the month of October. I am working hard to get everything ready; not only do I have to paint, but frame and get resumes, etc. printed. I don't know if I can possibly handle entering the two shows going on here in the fall. I still plan to leave on 9/6 for the beach!

New Show

I have been invited to do a show in Seneca, SC. I have rather short notice to put this together; but upon thinking about it, that is why I have been painting this past year - trying to create a body of similar work. I have enough paintings, but I want them to work together. I will choose about 12 paintings to show. I have to get busy and work hard to get this ready!

It worked

Since my attempt at putting an image on the blog worked, and I got a response from it, I thought I would try another. I am not having a creative week this week as I am entertaining guests, but I hope that soon I can work more on this series of landscapes. This is a painting of wildflowers in the nature preserve.

Trying An Image

Finally I am here again, and just in time to not have much time for artwork as I will be having house guests for the next week! I have been wanting to post pictures of my paintings here, and I am going to try it today. I have been working on a series of small (12" x 12") paintings trying to get a body of work together. This series is SC Lowcountry Landscapes, and I am working similar images with different colors, textures, etc. Hopefully posting the pictures here will motivate me to keep working!

blog again

After a few weeks of not going to the blog page, I found I had to redo all the information for the blog. So---here I am again. We have thought of a new project for an art event! Several of us who live in this area are planning to do a new project for artists. We have just started brain-storming to come up with ideas. Stay tuned for more info.
